The Local Liquor Store, Bar & Bistro 

"The Local" consists of a privatly operated liquor store situated on the waterfront in Ganges Village on Salt Spring Island.

The liquor store, specializing in locally grown and produced wines, ports and micro-brewed beers, "The Local". as it is known, also has an extensive selection of internationally reknown wines, ciders, beers and spirits available from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m., seven days a week, 365 days a year!

The Bar & Bistro is a small waterfront bar overlooking the working harbour of Ganges village.  The popular "Local" features live music, sports TV, Gaming, light snacks, and a large sunny patio catering to both smokers and non smokers, looking past the live locally grown palm trees and out the mouth of Ganges Harbour to the other southern Gulf Islands.

The Local faces onto the famous Salt Spring Market which takes place every Saturday from Easter to Thanksgiving.  After shopping for your unique crafts, arts or organics, drop by The Local for a great selection of local wines to compliment your special dinner.  We would be pleases to recommend a wine to compliment your evening meal or that goes well with a sunny afternoon on the deck.

We also cater to the many boaters visting Ganges and offer a one-stop-shop for ice, snacks, ATM, Lotto Tickets, Cold Beer and Wine, local newspapers, and tourist advise.  After strolling the market, stop in at the bar for a refreshment or better yet, let your partner have all the time they want browsing the market for gifts for you, while you relax with a cold one and watch the game on the waterfront patio.  Or drop back in the evening and catch a little Local talent offering up everything from folk to reggae, and everything in between.
